Genesee Health System Offers Location for Cognitive Testing of Miners in Flint Water Crisis Resolution


FLINT, MI – Flint’s Water Crisis Resolution Cognitive Testing Group for Miners will be temporarily located within the Genesee Health System Neurodevelopment Center of Excellence.

Testing will begin Monday, November 15 through January 2022, at the Neurodevelopmental Center of Excellence, 2700 Robert T. Longway Blvd., in Flint.

Visiting neuropsychologists will perform tests for children affected by the Flint water crisis who are involved in the resolution of the water crisis. The Genesee Health System’s NCE program will continue to offer comprehensive testing for children affected by the water crisis, according to a press release from the Genesee Health System.

“GHS had the physical capacity to provide an office and testing space for clinicians at the facility to do the work needed at the facility, and the community is used to this type of service offered there,” Danis Russell, CEO of Genesee Health System. , noted. “GHS has been involved in this process from the start, and we felt it was important to stay involved to help ensure that the needs of the community are taken into account. If visiting clinicians find that children need a more in-depth testing session than that offered by the regulation, then a referral will be made for further testing through the NCE, and the referral is transparent as long as they are. co-located in our building.
