Genesee Middle School District to fill vacant seat on Flint School Board

FLINT, MI — The Genesee Middle School District will fill the vacant seat on the Flint Community Schools School Board following the resignation of former treasurer Danielle Green in August.

Green resigned under the terms of a plea agreement with the city of Flint after being charged with misdemeanor battery and disrupting a March 23 public meeting. Green allegedly assaulted fellow administrator Laura MacIntyre.

In the past, schools in Flint named their own replacements when there were vacancies on the board. Trustees Allen Gilbert, Linda Boose and Chris Del Morone have all been nominated and are seeking full terms in the November election.

Since no provision has been made for the board to appoint a replacement and 30 days have passed, this responsibility is transferred to the Genesee Intermediate School District.

Green’s replacement will serve until the end of this year, as her term ended in 2022.

All applicants must be registered voters and live within the boundaries of Flint Community Schools. Applicants must submit a one-page cover letter and one-page curriculum vitae to the GISD Superintendent’s office by 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 13.

Nominations may be addressed to the following persons: Mr. Richard Hill, Chairman Genesee Intermediate School District Board of Education 2413 West Maple Avenue Flint, Michigan 48507.

Interviews will be held publicly at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18 at the Erwin L. Davis Education Center, 2413 W. Maple Ave.

The GISD School Board will appoint a new board member after the interviews.
