Michigan’s Best Local Dishes: Wolfgang’s Early Bird Special Get Your Money Back


GRAND RAPIDS, MI – If you’re an early riser, Wolfgang’s Restaurant in Grand Rapids has an offer for you.

The Early Bird Special, available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., includes three eggs, a pancake, two slices of bacon, toast, and potatoes – for $ 3.99.

“There are days when the doors open at 6:30 am and we’ll fill almost the entire restaurant with the Early Bird Special,” said Tami Garza, the restaurant manager.

Meal eggs can be cooked in any style. There are also several varieties of toast – white, whole wheat, marbled rye, English muffin, and cinnamon swirl – and an option of seasoned red potatoes or grated hash browns, Garza said.

“People love it,” she says. “It brings in a lot of college students before class. It attracts a lot of high school students. It attracts a lot of business people before work because it’s so affordable and so good.

While the Early Bird Special is a favorite, Eastown’s popular restaurant, 1530 Wealthy St., open since 1977, has plenty of other options if you’re looking for something more elaborate. There are loads of pancakes and French toast along with breakfast burritos, omelets, quesadillas, breakfast pans, egg benedict and more.

The Stacy Wolfgang, for example, comes with a toasted bagel topped with Havarti cheese, a sausage patty, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and asparagus. It costs $ 11.95. $ 11.95

Another option is the Forsyth. It’s a breakfast pan made with seasoned red potatoes, broccoli, onions, green peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes, depending on the menu. It is topped with cheddar cheese and served with a hollandaise sauce. It costs $ 10.30 on its own or $ 11.95 with eggs and toast.

If you’re looking for something sweet, consider Uptown.

These are tiramisu pancakes that are covered with a mascarpone filling, soaked in coffee and topped with whipped cream and cocoa powder, depending on the menu. It costs $ 10.20.
